Beyond Automotive: High-Voltage Power Silicon, Industrial Sealing, and Marine

High-voltage power silicon as the anchor capability, industrial seals for oil/gas/water/process equipment, EPDM and CR for marine — the non-automotive side of PBR's catalogue.

PBR's automotive work — engine mountings, bushings, seals for Hino, Suzuki, Honda, ROKI, and the rest of the Japanese-OEM ecosystem — is the largest share of what we do. But the catalogue extends further. The Industrial Specialty range covers reliability-critical applications outside automotive: high-voltage power infrastructure silicon parts (the anchor capability), industrial machinery vibration isolators, marine gaskets, industrial seals for oil/gas/water utility/process equipment, and specialised custom molding.

High-voltage power silicon parts — the anchor capability

Silicone (VMQ) is the natural choice for high-voltage power infrastructure components because of two properties: dielectric stability and a wide temperature range (typically -50 °C to +200 °C service). We compound silicone for the specific dielectric and thermal characteristics PLN-grade and utility-grade applications demand. Insulator components, sealing parts, and dielectric components leave the post-cure ovens dimensionally stable and ready for long service life. This is the reliability-critical anchor of our industrial specialty programs.

Industrial seals — oil, gas, water utility, process equipment

Industrial sealing components and gaskets for oil, gas, water utility, and process equipment applications. The compound gets matched to the fluid, the temperature, and the pressure: FKM (Viton-style) where heat and aggressive hydrocarbons are present; NBR for general oil contact; EPDM for water and steam. The compound traceability and per-batch testing discipline from our automotive programs transfer directly.

Marine gaskets and components

Seawater and weather attack rubber compounds in characteristic ways: salt-water corrosion of bonded metal inserts, UV degradation of exposed surfaces, ozone cracking of EPDM-unfriendly compounds. EPDM and CR (neoprene) are the workhorse compounds for marine gaskets, sealing rings, and custom rubber components in the salt-water environment.

Industrial machinery vibration isolators

Bonded rubber-to-metal isolators and rubber-only mounts for conveyors, compressors, generators, large pumps, and other production-floor machinery. The compound and stiffness are tuned to the specific load case and frequency band the customer's machinery generates. Same bonding discipline as automotive engine mounts — pull-tested every batch.

Specialised custom molding

When an industrial customer needs a rubber component that doesn't fit any standard catalogue — dielectric, oil-and-gas, marine, mining, or specialty industrial — we tool, prototype, and produce it. In-house CNC mold milling and FDM 3D printer keep the program inside our walls from drawing to delivery.

Why the industrial test bar is higher

Industrial specialty programs typically carry per-batch testing requirements beyond what a standard automotive program needs. Our QC lab is built for that bar: Mooney viscometer, rheometer, UCAN tensile, ozone, aging, endurance, measuring microscope — plus tailor-made customer-specific test machines built to individual customer programs. Where the customer's QA model requires bespoke rigs, we build them and maintain them on-site.
